Task Lighting Scholarship

DESCRIPTION
TASK LIGHTING CORPORATION will award FOUR $1,500 scholarships to any Lexington High School senior who is of ethnic minority origin and will be continuing their education at any university or college.

QUALIFICATIONS
Consideration for the scholarship may be given only to a Lexington High School graduates who are of ethnic minority origin and provide a statement of financial need.

INSTRUCTIONS
Each applicant should submit a complete application packet that includes:

  1. A recent photograph;
  2. The completed application page;
  3. College major and your career objectives statement (250 words or less);
  4. Statement of financial need;
  5. Two letters of recommendation completed by collegiate instructors whose class the applicant has completed or in which he/she is currently enrolled;
  6. A third letter of recommendation completed by an adult designated by the applicant outside the school other than a relative (employer, pastor etc.);
  7. A resume listing memberships and activities;
  8. A copy of an official transcript.

The application should be submitted to the counselor no later than April 1, 2009, who will submit it to the Lexington Community Foundation Scholarship Committee for review. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Each applicant should complete the application. (The application is provided on-line in .pdf format. To view and print this application you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. To download the reader click here. Or Application in MS Word form.) The applicant must also provide three letters of recommendation. Two are to be completed by instructors whose class the applicant has completed or in which he/she is currently enrolled. The third is to be completed by an adult designated by the applicant outside the school other than a relative (one of your employers, for example). Your application should also describe your college major in engineering and/or computer science along with your career objectives.

Please attach a recent photograph. The application should be submitted to the counselor who will then submit it to the Lexington Community Foundation Scholarship Committee. Members of the Scholarship Committee will judge the applications and select the winner. The scholarship will be awarded at Honors Night. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

PAYMENT
Payment of this scholarship will be made directly to the financial institution for credit to the student’s account. The first half will be automatically remitted in August and the second half in December after verification of enrollment.
