The Lexington Community Foundation exists to encourage and strengthen philanthropy in order to provide a permanent source of funding for opportunities to improve the quality of life, strengthen the sense of community, benefit future generations in Lexington, Nebraska.

HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 4-YEAR PROGRAMS

Alumni Scholarship

Description: Consideration for this scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior of Lexington High School who plans to enroll as a full-time student at any university, state college, community college or technical school within the State of Nebraska. The award is created to give tribute to the faculty and staff that help shape the futures of all Lexington High School students, and to encourage the recipients of this award to one day return the favor and give back as much as they can, whenever the opportunity may arise.
Amount Awarded: $1,000 ($500 for two semesters)
Availability: One award given each year.



Ann Crawford Alexander Memorial Scholarship

Description: The Ann Crawford Alexander family has created this scholarship in loving memory of Ann. Consideration for this scholarship will be given only to a Lexington High School graduate, graduating senior or home-school graduate from the Lexington community. Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA or above and be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Amount Awarded: $1,000 ($500 for two semesters)
Availability: One award given each year.



Athea Roberts Memorial Scholarship

Description: Any graduate or graduating senior of Lexington High School who is pursuing a degree at any university, college, trade school or community college may apply. Must state how music has shaped them as a person, show qualities of good character and leadership skills, be involved in school and community activities.
Amount Awarded: $750
Availability: One award given each year.



Brian D. Eilers Memorial Scholarship

Description: Scholarship will be awarded to a graduate or graduating senior of a Dawson County High School. Eligibility emphasis will be placed on the recipient being an employee, or a past employee, a student that has either a parent(s) or a grandparent(s) that work/have worked for Eilers Machine & Welding, Inc.
Amount Awarded: $2,000 ($1,000 for two semesters)
Availability: One award given each year.



Class of '77 Scholarship

Description: Consideration will be given to a graduating senior demonstrating good character, leadership, academic achievement, financial need, has participated in extra-curricular and community activities AND has at least one parent who is a graduate of Lexington High School or St. Ann’s High School.
Amount Awarded: $500
Availability: One award given each year.



Gary Shubert Memorial Scholarship

Description: Consideration for this scholarship will be given to any student who will be graduating from Lexington High School that has been involved in track or cross-country. Applicant must show qualities of dedication and good citizenship, and must have demonstrated an outstanding effort in their sport.
Amount Awarded: $750
Availability: One award given each year.



Housel Family Scholarship

Description: Applicant must be a Lexington High School graduating senior who has demonstrated academic achievement and extra-curricular, athletic and community involvement during high school.
Amount Awarded: Up to $5,000 ($2,000 the first year, $1,000 for up to three additional years)
Availability: One award given each year.
Renewable: The award may be renewable for at least $1,000 per year for up to three subsequent years based on earnings of the scholarship funds. Funding beyond the first year is not guaranteed.



Janelle VerMaas Memorial Scholarship

Description: The family of Janelle VerMaas has created a scholarship in her memory because of her devotion to teaching everyone she came in contact with. This scholarship is available to any graduating senior at Lexington High School who is enrolled at any university or college and plans to pursue a degree in education.
Amount Awarded: $2,000 ($1,000 paid in August of second and third year of college)
Availability: One award given each year.



LCF Annual Scholarship

Description: Scholarship will be awarded to a Lexington High School senior who enrolls in any four-year program at any university or college. Consideration will be given to any graduating senior, who ranks in the upper 1/3 of their class with merit given to class rank.
Amount Awarded: Up to $3,000 ($750 each year, for up to four years)
Availability: Two awards given each year.



Lexington Optimist Club Service to Youth Scholarship

Description: A scholarship to be awarded to a Lexington High School senior who enrolls in any four year four year state college or University. Preference for the scholarship will be given to any applicant that demonstrates service to youth through community involvement, academic achievement AND has a relative active in the Lexington Optimist Club.
Amount Awarded: $1,000
Availability: One awarded given each year.



Liz Richardson Community Service Award

Description: A scholarship will be given each year to any Lexington High School graduating senior, who ranks in the upper 1/3 of their class, shows qualities of good character, leadership, academic achievement, and shows outstanding community activities of at least 50 hours per school year.
Amount Awarded: $1,000
Availability: One awarded given each year.



Norall Scholarship

Description: Scholarships are awarded each year to students that have graduated from a Dawson County high school and who are enrolled or enrolling in a U. S. College. Consideration will be given to medical courses of study and to those students who plan to return to Dawson County upon the completion of their education.
Amount Awarded: Past Award Ranges have been Graduate Student- $500 to $2,500 per year; Undergraduate Student- $300 to $1,500 per year
Availability: The number and amount of each scholarship will vary due to the annual earnings of the trust, as well as, due to the nature of the annual applicants as to educational program levels, financial needs and academic levels.



Otto & Esther Murdock Scholarship

Description: This scholarship will be awarded to a Lexington High School graduating senior who enrolls at UNL, UNO or UNK. Consideration given only to a graduate with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who provides evidence of being from a family of average or below average Nebraska income.
Amount Awarded: $500
Availability: One award given each year.



Robert & Barbara Wade Scholarship

Description: This scholarship will be awarded each year to a graduating Lexington High School senior who enrolls in a public university or college within the State of Nebraska. Consideration given only to a graduate who ranks in the upper 1/2 of their class.
Amount Awarded: * Up to $4,000 ($1,000 each year, for up to four years)
*Availability:
One award given each year.
Renewable: For up to three subsequent years.



TeamMates Scholarship

Description: Consideration given to any Lexington High School graduating senior pursuing a post-secondary education, who has actively participated in the TeamMates of Lexington program through his/her senior year.
Amount Awarded: The amount of the scholarship will be determined by the number of students submitting a qualified application.
Availability: All qualified applicants will receive a scholarship.
Renewable: A separate renewal scholarship application is established for possible continued support.



Warren & Leta Batie Scholarship

Description: Consideration given to any Lexington High School graduating senior who plans to attend any university, state college or tech school. Applicant must have demonstrated qualities of good character, community service and leadership.
Amount Awarded: Up to $2,000 ($500 each year, for up to four years)
Availability: One award given each year.
