LCF MISSION STATEMENT

The Lexington Community Foundation exists to encourage and strengthen philanthropy in order to provide a permanent source of funding for opportunities to improve the quality of life, strengthen the sense of community, benefit future generations in Lexington, Nebraska.

COLLEGIATE SCHOLARSHIPS

Alumni Scholarship

Description: Consideration for this scholarship will be awarded to a graduate of Lexington High School who is currently enrolled at any university, state college, community college or technical school within the State of Nebraska as a collegiate sophomore, junior or senior or a graduate student. The award is created to give tribute to the faculty and staff that help shape the futures of all Lexington High School students, and to encourage the recipients of this award to one day return the favor and give back as much as they can, whenever the opportunity may arise.
Amount Awarded: $1,000 ($500 for two semesters)
Availability: Three awards given each year.



Ann Crawford Alexander Memorial Scholarship

Description: The Ann Crawford Alexander family has created this scholarship in loving memory of Ann. Consideration for this scholarship will be given only to a Lexington High School graduate, graduating senior or home-school graduate from the Lexington community. Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA or above and be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Amount Awarded: $1,000 ($500 for two semesters)
Availability: One award given each year.



Athea Roberts Memorial Scholarship

Description: Any graduate or graduating senior of Lexington High School who is pursuing a degree at any university, college, trade school or community college may apply. Must state how music has shaped them as a person, show qualities of good character and leadership skills, be involved in school and community activities.
Amount Awarded: $750
Availability: One award given each year.



Brian D. Eilers Memorial Scholarship

Description: Scholarship will be awarded to a graduate or graduating senior of a Dawson County High School. Eligibility emphasis will be placed on the recipient being an employee, or a past employee, a student that has either a parent(s) or a grandparent(s) that work/have worked for Eilers Machine & Welding, Inc.
Amount Awarded: $2,000 ($1,000 for two semesters)
Availability: One award given each year.



Edsel Newman Scholarship

Description: Consideration for this scholarship will be given to a Lexington High School graduate who ranks in the upper 1/3 of the class, is a United States citizen, shows qualities of good character and leadership and demonstrates an aptitude of academic achievement. Applicant must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited curriculum pursuing a degree in engineering or computer science.
Amount Awarded: $1,000 ($500 for two semesters)
Availability: One award given each year.



Emerson Memorial Scholarship

Description: Consideration for the scholarship may be given only to a Lexington High School graduate who has completed at least two years of college, has an accumulative collegiate GPA of 2.5 or higher, and has participated in fine arts activities, extra-curricular or community activities. The recipient must also demonstrate financial need.
Amount Awarded: $1,000 ($500 for two semesters)
Availability: One award given each year.



Mark & Vera Turner Memorial Scholarship

Description: Consideration given each year to a Lexington High School graduate currently enrolled as a collegiate sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student at an educational institution who has an accumulative collegiate GPA of 2.0 or higher and is a United States citizen.
Amount Awarded: $500 ($250 for two semesters)
Availability: Four awards given each year.



Norall Scholarship

Description: Scholarships are awarded each year to students that have graduated from a Dawson County high school and who are enrolled or enrolling in a U. S. College. Consideration will be given to medical courses of study and to those students who plan to return to Dawson County upon the completion of their education.
Amount Awarded: Past Award Ranges have been Graduate Student- $500 to $2,500 per year; Undergraduate Student- $300 to $1,500 per year
Availability: The number and amount of each scholarship will vary due to the annual earnings of the trust, as well as, due to the nature of the annual applicants as to educational program levels, financial needs and academic levels.



Pat Ruppe Scholarship

Description: Consideration will be given to a graduate of Lexington High School who has an accumulative collegiate GPA of 3.0 or higher and is a United States citizen. Applicant must be currently enrolled at any university or college as a collegiate junior, senior or graduate student.
Amount Awarded: $3,000 ($1,500 for two semesters)
Availability: One award given each year.



Wightman Scholarships

Description: Applicants must have completed at least 30 hours of college with a 3.2 grade point average while attending any accredited four-year college within or outside the State of Nebraska. Preference shall be based upon both need and scholastic achievement.
Amount Awarded: $2,000 ($500 each semester for four semesters)
Availability: Two awards given each year. One John & Jan Wightman Scholarship and one Byron & Bessie Wightman Memorial Scholarship.
