Grant Awards Provide Support
The Foundation distributed $380,04395 in grants from July 1, 2008 - June 30, 2009 to support the Lexington area. These grants are made available from the Foundation’s discretionary funds. The Foundation awards grants throughout the year and recipients are selected by the Foundation's Grants Committee with approval of the executive committee and often the full board of directors.
Lexington YMCA $154,285
Funding from Key 2008 & 2009 to support the effort to offer YMCA programs in Lexington.
Lexington Skate Park $4,855
Funding to purchase two new skate ramps at the Lexington Skate Park.
CFI: Lexington
(Community Fitness Initiative) $10,000
Match grant with Tri-County Hospital in support of this initiative directed toward improving healthy lifestyles of Lexington youth.
Lutheran Family Services $21,000
Grant to assist in relocation and renovation of the Lexington facility.
Library Program Initiative $7,500
Match grant funding for community programs hosted by the Lexington Public Library.
Council for Economic Development
(CED– Lexington) $8,000
Funding from a renovation grant will be used to assist in the development of the Lexington Business Center
Lexington Softball Program $822
Pass through grant funding from the Nebraska Softball Foundation for the purchase of new equipment for the City of Lexington softball programs.
Lexington Parks & Trails Fund $137,652
Grant funding from Key 2008 & 2009 is in support of City of Lexington’s Parks & Trails comprehensive plan to improve Lexington’s green space. Funding this past year helped offset costs of new playground equipment; security camera installation; expand Lexington’s skate park; and construct park picnic shelter in Plum Creek Park.
Dawson County CASA $550
Funding was used to underwrite cost for further training of CASA employees.
Community Christmas Chorus $2,000
Funding for the purchase of Christmas choir music and tapes for the community concert held in December.
Youth Bowling Assoc. of Lexington $500
A grant to support the Youth Bowling Association of Lexington to offset program costs.
Career Services, Inc. $1,000
A contribution in support of the Dawson Area Development Leadership Class Hero Flight project that sent local veterans to visit Washington, D.C. monuments.
Lexington Post Prom $500
Grant funds supported the after prom activities sponsored by the parents.
Silver Ring Thing Event $500
Funding to Parkview Baptist Church to assist in the Silver Ring Thing Event.
Johnson Lake Bus Stop $173
Funding from the LCF to purchase a cement pad for the bus stop.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance $120
In kind support of paper and office supplies to assist tax preparation service for low-income families in Lexington.
