2005 Grant Awards Provide $160,289 of Support

The Foundation, since December 1, 2004, has awarded $160,289 in grants to the Lexington area. These grants are made available from discretionary funds, established by donors for the purpose of satisfying the needs of our community. The Foundation awards grants throughout the year and recipients are selected by the Foundation's Grants Committee with approval of the executive committee and often the full board of directors. Organizations receiving grants include:

LMS Auditorium $38,742
Funding from the LCT LMS Auditorium Fund together with LPS funding will be used to purchase over $65,000 of new equipment that will enhance all productions held in the auditorium.

TeamMates of Lexington $594
Over sixty complimentary tickets were provided to Lexington TeamMates giving teammates and their mentors the opportunity to attend Plum Creek Community Players' production of Beauty and the Beast.

Morton Elementary HOST Program $54
Complimentary tickets were provided for HOST students to attend Plum Creek Community Players' production of Beauty and the Beast.

Dawson County Historical Museum $49,611
Funding is provided from the Key 2005 dinner and auction proceeds and will support the museum's facility renovation and expansion project.

Lexington Chamber of Commerce $3,000
Grant funding to support the Chautauqua events held in July.

Heartland Museum of Military Vehicles $49,611
Funding is provided from the Key 2005 dinner and auction proceeds and will be used to construct a new building for the display of military vehicles at the museum.

Johnson Lake EMS $10,000
Challenge grant funding will partially fund the purchase of an ambulance to replace the 1973 unit.

Lexington Skate Park Challenge $2,906
Match grant funding is paired with a community educational grant program, coordinated by Mrs. Ardith Eisenhauer, in which a student chooses a community project to work on. Three new pieces of equipment were added to Lexington's skate park.

EDUCATIONAL GRANT PROGRAM:

Morton Elementary
Operation Green Thumb - $1,000 Educational landscaping project.
Building a Good Foundation - $1,000 Program to promote school readiness

Lexington Middle School
LMS Science Fair - $750 Funding for material, prizes and awards.
Honoring the Past - $500 Educational unite on the Holocaust.
Connecting Shots - $1,000 6th grade creative writing unit.
Recycle Hope Project - $121 Fundraising project to benefit victims of the tsunami.
Grading Empathy, Making Choices - $600 8th grade social themes reading unit.

Tyson Early Learning Academy
Preschool Arts Program - $800 Bringing fine arts into the preschool.
