About Giving
Among the many giving
options available, community foundations have become one of the fastest
growing charitable giving options in the U.S. In 1999 alone, gifts
to non-corporate foundations increased 37.8%. Many donors turn to community
foundations, such as the Lexington Community Foundation, for their
flexibility, the opportunity to benefit multiple charities, the broad
range of ways to make a gift and the right to be anonymous if desired.
Donors are also assured of good gift stewardship.
As with any important endeavor in life, charitable giving involves
thoughtful planning. The Foundation staff is willing to work with you
and your advisors to arrange a gift that best suits your giving interests
and needs.
At the Foundation, we have a gift process dedicated to accommodating
your charitable wishes. With this process, you receive many significant
benefits:
Flexibility
Donors designate how charitable dollars will be used.
You can also craft a fund that designates a specific purpose or area
of charitable interest, or give to the Foundation's Community Grant
Funds to meet changing needs.
Permanence
Our process is designed to maintain ongoing gifts so they
continue to be vital and long lasting - giving beyond the donor's lifetime.
Should a donor gift be directed to a cause that becomes obsolete, the
Foundation will redirect your gift to preserve its original intent.
Tax Advantages
As a public charity, gifts to the Foundation qualify
for the maximum deductibility for income, gift and estate tax purposes.
You can make a gift that reduces your current tax burden or simplifies
the eventual distribution of your estate.
Communication
We monitor all gifts and report on the results. Donors
receive periodic reports on the status of charitable funds, and also
have daily access to their fund via this web site.
Professional Management
Behind every gift is the wish to give wisely, and it is our commitment
at the Foundation to be the best stewards possible. All gifts to the
Foundation are professionally managed. Foundation staff members are
knowledgeable and experienced about charitable giving, gift administration
and investment management.
Public Accountability
We have an independent accounting
firm compile an annual report for accountability and assurance that
funds will be used for charitable purposes. A copy of the Foundation's
financial statements are available upon request.
Anonymity
We provide donors with the opportunity to make
truly anonymous gifts. The Foundation will disclose your name to benefiting
charities only at your request. You can request anonymity for life
or forever, if that's your wish.
Privacy
The Foundation understands that you may also
be concerned about privacy issues regarding your gift. We do not share,
sell or exchange names, addresses, e-mail addresses or telephone numbers.
Disclosures regarding your gift will only be made to people you identify. |
