Liz Richardson Scholarship

DESCRIPTION
The Lexington Community Foundation has established a scholarship fund to honor a long time resident and community volunteer, Liz Richardson. A quote from Tuesdays with Morrie describes the way Liz lives her life 'The way you can get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to your community around you and devote yourself to create something that gives you purpose and meaning.'

This scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 will be awarded from the Lexington Community Foundation. The scholarship will be awarded to a qualifying Lexington High School graduating senior who plans to attend any university, state college or tech school within the state of Nebraska.

QUALIFICATIONS
Consideration for the scholarship will be given to any graduating senior, who ranks in the upper 1/3 of the class, shows qualities of good character and leadership, academic achievement, and who shows outstanding community activities of at least 50 hours per school year.

INSTRUCTIONS
Each applicant should complete the application. (The application is provided on-line in .pdf format. To view and print this application you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. To download the reader click here). Or Application in MS Word form. The applicant must also provide three letters of recommendation. Two are to be completed by an adult sponsor of the community service that applicant has completed. The third is to be completed by an instructor whose class the applicant has completed or in which he/she is currently enrolled. Attach a recent photograph. The application should be submitted to the counselor who will submit it to the Lexington Community Foundation Scholarship Committee. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

The scholarship will be awarded at Honors Night.

PAYMENT
Payment of this scholarship will be made after successful completion of the first semester of the freshman year with a grade point average of 2.5 or better based on 4.0 grading system.

In the event the recipient does not meet the required GPA, a probationary term, immediately following the recipients first term, will be granted.  If the recipient's 2nd term GPA meets the scholarship requirement, the scholarship will be awarded following the probationary term.

An alternate will be named and will be awarded if the recipient does not attend a college within the state of Nebraska.
