Home Federal Savings and Loan Scholarship

DESCRIPTION

The Home Federal Savings & Loan Association of Lexington has established a scholarship fund with the Lexington Community Foundation that will provide fiver annual scholarships in the amount of $500 each. Scholarships awarded will be:

1) $500 to a Lexington High School graduating senior;
2) $500 to a Lexington High School graduate entering sophomore year in college;
3) $500 to a Lexington High School graduate entering junior year in college;
4) $500 to a Lexington High School graduate entering senior year in college; and
5) $500 to a Lexington High School graduate enrolled in a graduate masters or doctoral program.

Applicants must be enrolled at any university, state college, community college or technical school within the State of Nebraska.

QUALIFICATIONS
Consideration for the scholarship will be given to any student who has graduated or will be graduating from Lexington High School and shows qualities of good character and leadership, academic achievement, financial need and participation in extra-curricular and community activities.

The applicant must also provide three dated letters of recommendation. Two are to be completed by instructors whose class the applicant has completed or in which he/she is currently enrolled. The third is to be completed by an adult designated by the applicant outside of the school other than a relative.

The completed application should be submitted to the Lexington High School counselor's office by April 1st each year. The Lexington Community Foundation Scholarship Committee will review all applications and select the winners. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Notifications of scholarship awards will be made no later than May 15th each year.

PAYMENT
Payment of this scholarship will be made directly to the college or university after successful completion of the first semester of the term for which the scholarship was awarded with a grade point average of 2.0 or better based on 4.0 grading system.

An alternate will be named and will be awarded if the recipient does not attend a college within the state of Nebraska.
