LCF/Francelene Skinner Memorial Scholarship
DESCRIPTION
A scholarship fund has been established from a bequest to the Lexington
Community Foundation from the Francelene Skinner Estate. Two scholarships
in the amount of $500 each will be awarded from this fund to a Lexington
High School graduating senior who is enrolled or has completed one
of career classes offered at LHS, including but not limited to Business
Internship, Mechanics, Certified Nurses Assistant, and Construction
classes, and will be attending a trade school, technical school or
community college within the State of Nebraska.
QUALIFICATIONS
Consideration for the scholarship will be given to any graduating
senior, who ranks in the upper 1/3 of the class, shows qualities of
good character and leadership, academic achievement, financial need
and participation in extra-curricular and community activities.
INSTRUCTIONS
Each applicant should complete the application. (The

must also provide three letters of recommendation. Two are to be completed
by instructors whose class the applicant has completed or in which
he/she is currently enrolled. The third is to be completed by an adult
designated by the applicant outside of the school other than a relative.
Attach a recent photograph. The application should be submitted to
the counselor who will submit it to the Lexington Foundation Scholarship
Committee. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
The scholarship will be awarded at Honors Night.
PAYMENT
Payment of this scholarship will be made after successful completion
of the first semester or term of the freshman year with a grade point
average of 2.5 or better based on 4.0 grading system.
In the event the recipient does not meet the required GPA, a probationary
term, immediately following the recipients first term, will be granted.
If the recipient’s 2nd term GPA meets the scholarship requirement,
the scholarship will be awarded following the probationary term.
An alternate will be named and will be awarded if the recipient does
not attend a college within the state of Nebraska.
